How many restrooms does a plant shutdown need?

A plant shutdown with 100 contract workers per shift needs at least 3 seats and 3 urinals under OSHA 1926.51 for construction work. Craig Rental Works recommends 10 standard units and 3 handwashing stations for 100 workers per shift, serviced daily during a 2-week shutdown.

Two shifts double the use per unit. Plan service around shift change, not midday.

Each standard unit has 1 seat and 1 urinal. Legal minimum per OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51(c); our recommendation assumes a 40-hour week and weekly service.

Can you meet safety and site-access rules?

Yes. Our drivers follow site check-in, escort and PPE rules, and we schedule service inside your gate hours. Send your contractor packet, insurance requirements and gate rules when you book. Most plants approve us before the first delivery.

Certificates of insurance are sent on request, naming your company as additional insured.

What about utility and storm crews?

Utility crews and storm-response teams need units that move with them. Towable and trailer-mounted porta potties hitch to a crew truck and travel from site to site. For staging yards, we set clusters of 6 to 10 units with handwashing stations and service them daily.

Storm work is first-come. Call as soon as crews are dispatched.

Pro tip

Running crews at several sites? Ask for one quote sheet that lists every location and service visit. It makes approval and invoicing faster for your project manager.
