Who should rent a standard porta potty?
A standard porta potty is the right rental for construction crews, home remodels, farm field crews, yard sales and casual parties. It holds up to rough use, fits in a driveway and needs no water or power. Pick a deluxe unit instead when guests expect a sink inside.
Standard units also make sense as overflow next to a restroom trailer at a big wedding. Guests use the trailer; the crew and caterers use the standard units.
| Job | Standard unit? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| House framing, roofing, siding | Yes | Durable, weekly service, no hookups |
| Graduation party, 60–100 guests | Yes, add a handwash station | Cheapest per guest; pair with a sink |
| Farm crew in the field | Yes, plus handwashing | OSHA 1928.110 requires handwashing too |
| Wedding reception | Better: deluxe or trailer | Guests expect flushing and a sink |
| Wheelchair user on site | No: choose accessible | Standard door and floor are too tight |

Call (717) 210-4414How often is a standard porta potty cleaned?
A standard porta potty on a job site is cleaned once a week. The weekly service pumps the 60-gallon tank, scrubs the seat, urinal and floor, adds fresh deodorizer and restocks paper and sanitizer. Crews over 10 people or heavy use may need 2 services a week.
Event units are cleaned and stocked before delivery and are not serviced during a weekend event unless you add a service visit.
What does a standard porta potty cost to rent?
A standard porta potty from Craig Rental Works starts at $155 per 28-day cycle on a job site, including weekly cleaning. A standard unit for a weekend event starts at $165. Delivery and pickup run $45 to $95 by distance and are charged once per order, not per unit.
Your quote lists the unit price, rental period, delivery and pickup, servicing and sales tax. There is no fuel surcharge or card fee. See the full cost guide.
A standard porta potty has hand sanitizer, not a sink. If food is served or kids are around, add a handwashing station. It costs less than a second toilet and guests use it more than you expect.
Standard porta potty FAQs
Does a standard porta potty have a urinal?
Yes. Most standard units have a seat and a separate urinal. The urinal speeds things up on crews and at parties with many men.
Does the standard unit have a light inside?
The roof is translucent, so the inside is bright during the day. For night use we can add a battery light on request, or choose a restroom trailer with built-in lights.
Can a standard porta potty go on grass?
Yes. Level grass works well. Avoid low spots that hold water and slopes steeper than a few degrees. Our driver levels the unit with shims if needed.
Will it smell?
A serviced unit with fresh deodorizer should not smell outside the door. Placing the unit in shade and away from patios helps on hot days. Call us if odor builds before the next service.
Can I lock it at night?
Yes. Ask for a unit with a padlock hasp. You supply the padlock and give the code or key to our service driver.
How do you deliver to a backyard?
The driver rolls the unit on a hand truck. We need a path about 36 inches wide and firm ground. For weekly pumping, the truck hose reaches about 15 feet from where the truck parks.
