What local rules affect a porta potty rental in York?
Put the unit on your own lot or rear pad, or get the city permit before delivery day. Keep units on higher ground away from the creek, and call us before heavy rain so we can move them.
The table lists each local rule or condition, what it means for your rental, and the official source to check.
| Local fact | What it means for you | Source |
|---|---|---|
| The City of York requires approval before anything sits on a public street, sidewalk or metered space. | Put the unit on your own lot or rear pad, or get the city permit before delivery day. | City of York |
| Codorus Creek runs through downtown York, and the land along its banks is in a mapped flood zone. | Keep units on higher ground away from the creek, and call us before heavy rain so we can move them. | FEMA Flood Map Service Center |
| The Heritage Rail Trail County Park runs through downtown York and is managed by York County Parks. | Trail-side events need park approval first. Ask where trucks may drive before you book units there. | York County Parks |
| PennDOT District 8 controls I-83, US 30 and Route 74 through York. | Road crews working on those routes should confirm unit placement with the PennDOT permit before we deliver. | PennDOT |
| OSHA rule 1926.51 requires at least one toilet for 20 or fewer construction workers. | Larger York crews need more seats. Give us your head count and we size the order to match. | OSHA |
How does delivery and placement work in York?
York city is mostly row homes on narrow streets with rear alleys. Our driver backs down the alley and sets the unit on your rear pad or yard. The unit stays off the alley lane so trash trucks can pass. Front sidewalks need a city permit, so we avoid them. Out in the townships, driveways and HOA rules matter more. Many Spring Garden and York Township developments want units beside the garage, not on the front lawn.

Can a porta potty sit in my York alley?
Yes, a York porta potty can usually sit on your rear pad or yard beside the alley. The unit cannot block the alley lane, because city trash trucks and neighbors need it. About 4 feet by 4 feet of level ground fits one standard unit.
If the street or sidewalk is your only open spot, call the City of York permits office first. We will hold delivery until the permit is in hand.
How fast can you get a unit to York?
Same day in most cases. Call by 12 pm Monday through Saturday and a York delivery usually lands that afternoon, based on route space. The run from our Lancaster yard takes about 40 minutes. A same-day rush fee starts at $75.
Next-day York deliveries carry no rush fee. Weekend event units drop Friday and come back Monday.
How many units does a York job site need?
Plan on one standard unit for every 10 workers on a 40-hour week with weekly service. A York crew of 20 needs two units, and a crew of 35 needs four. Long-term York job-site units start from $155 per 28-day cycle, with weekly cleaning included.
Crews with long shifts may want a second service day. We can add one any week.
What does a typical York rental include?
A typical crew of four guts a row home off East Market Street over eight weeks. We set one standard unit on the rear pad by the alley and pump the unit every week. Billing runs in 28-day cycles, so the crew pays for two cycles. Billing stops the day they call for pickup.
Typical examples based on common jobs, not customer reviews.
Graduation party in Spring Garden Township
A family hosting 60 guests for a June graduation party orders one standard unit and one handwashing station. We drop both on Friday beside the garage, where the HOA prefers, and pick up Monday at no extra charge. The family pays one delivery fee for both units, not two.
Warehouse fit-out near I-83
A contractor finishing a warehouse interior in Manchester Township runs 45 workers. We place four standard units at the trailer gate plus a towable unit the crew drags along the building as work moves. Weekly service keeps all five units stocked, and extra visits are added during peak weeks.

Porta potty questions from York
Do you deliver to West York, North York and East York?
Yes. We deliver to West York, North York, East York and every township ringing the city. Same-day delivery applies across the York area when you call by noon. One delivery and pickup fee covers the whole order, even with several units.
Do I need a permit to put a porta potty in front of my York row home?
Yes, if the unit sits on the sidewalk or in a parking space. The City of York treats that as use of the public right-of-way. A rear yard or alley pad on your own property usually avoids the permit. We place units there whenever access allows.
What do I need for a York city block party?
A York block party of 100 guests for four hours usually needs two standard units and one handwashing station. Get the street closure approved by the city first. Once the street is closed, we set units at the curb spot you pick.
Can you bring a wheelchair-accessible unit to a York event?
Yes. Our wheelchair-accessible unit has a ground-level floor, a wide door and grab bars inside. The unit starts from $215 per event. York sites need a flat spot about 9 by 9 feet with a firm path, not loose gravel or soft lawn.
Will my York job-site unit freeze in winter?
No, not with our winter service. Job-site units get weekly service all winter, and we add a winter mix to the tank so waste does not freeze solid. Keep a shoveled path to the door so our tech can reach the unit.
